Deal of the Week!

I love getting a good deal. Like totally love it. So I have decided that every Friday I'm going to do my deal of the week. And since this is my first time to do it I'm going to kick it off with two, yes two, fantastic deals.
Deal 1 -
Purchased last Friday at a garage sale. Big A picked up this little steal for $3 and Little Lady LOVES it!
Deal 2 -
Purchased yesterday at Children's Orchard, a consignment shop. Brand new, never been worn, Chuck Taylors for my Little Lady for the fall for $4!

A Kansas girl in the land of Tigers...eww!

This past weekend we headed to MU for a swim meet for Sissy. It was very fun to get away and spend time relaxing with the family. But if you don't know, when you were born and raised a Kansas girl, spending the weekend in Columbia is not exactly what you dream of doing. I made sure to pack my National Championship KU t-shirts and to add more salt to the wounds of the Tiger lovers I dressed Little Lady in Nebraska gear, because if you follow the Big 12 you know that is just about the harshest insult to MU right now. Rivalries aside though it was an absolute fantastic weekend. We stayed in a super cute hotel that Fin loved. It had a great kid friendly pool that we spent some time in once the summer storms passed. Sissy tore up the MU pool kicking some tail and making the other swimmers "eat her bubbles." We started Fathers Day in Columbia as well. Big A scored some kayaking and camping accessories. Overall, it was great to get away and relax with with the family, that is the most important thing and in the end it doesn't matter where you are at, just who you are with!

Monster Dog!

We have a couple different dogs. We have two goldens with perfectly kid friendly demeanors. We have the dog that jumped the fence and wouldn't leave that is uber protective. And then we have him. He was my dog from when I was a single chick in an apartment. I got him from the pound and he was a match made in heaven. Then I figured out why he was at the pound. He runs. If you take your eyes off him for a second he will run. And he won't stop. And he barks. And he pees on everything. But me having the giant heart for him that I have, I still love him. He was my first baby. And then there are days like today where I say to myself that it's a good thing that I was the one to get him from the pound or he probably would have ended up there again. We can't let the dogs out in the back yard right now because a bunny made her nest and there are 5 little baby bunnies doing their growing back there right now. So, they have to go out front. And, none of them are very happy about this. Well, Big A let the goldens out this morning before he went to work. After he left, I was letting the fence jumper and my little monster out. Well, he decided that this was the perfect time to run. And he did. I realized when he made it to the corner that he wasn't coming back of his own accord. So I ran back in the house and got Little Lady from the pack-n-play, put on Big A's flip flops (because of course they were the only nearby shoes I could find) and took off after him. I found him three blocks down doing his duties in the front yard of some neighbors house. I got ahold of him and since he knew that he was in trouble he would not walk. So, please imagine what the people driving through the neighborhood saw. A woman still in her pj's and a messy ponytail in flip flops that were WAY too big, a pj'd baby on one hip and a limp bichon-poodle mix on the other, all the while the same aforementioned woman is vehemently saying bad dog over and over and aforementioned baby is also shaking her finger and saying dog dog dog. Nuff said, monster dog!

Just a little birthday fun!

Well, in my previous post I stated that Little Lady may be getting Yo Gabba Gabba tix for her birthday. After seeing what it would cost for a family of four to go, I'm rethinking that. With tickets alone costing $200 and then you add in concessions and souvenirs, we are probably looking at $300. Maybe we will rethink it when the show gets closer and go as a family affair but right now it's just not in the budget.

So, it's back to the swing and it has been purchased.
It's very cute and functional, will work great with the giant trees we have in our backyard, and was under $25. Now I don't want to sound like a cheap skate but that's more along the lines of a good deal. She will get her swing the day of her birthday and we have a little grab bag of Toy Story 3 loot to open at her birthday party.

The great breastfeeding debate.

I have been going back and forth as to what I was going to do when Little Lady turned a year old. I have been trying to get her to drink whole milk from a sippy and she is doing better but still does not drink nearly enough for me to stop breastfeeding nor is she mentally ready to give up breastfeeding at nap and bed time. I have done my research and I have finally come to weaning decision that I think will work best with my family and lifestyle. I have decided to delve into the world of extended breastfeeding. I figure if the World Health Organization can recommend it than it is good enough for me. I have developed a weaning plan and it is very fluid and Little Lady led with the goal of being COMPLETELY off the breast between 18 months and 2 years. My first step is to night wean and I will be beginning that after the birthday party. I will be following Dr. Gordons night weaning method. I am hoping to have this completed by 15 months. Also by 15 months I am hoping to have her on the breast soley for going to sleep. For months 15-18 I plan on slowly taking the breast away for naptime. And after 18 months taking it away at night time. It may go faster depending on how she does with whole milk. It may go slower. But I am willing to put the work in and continue to nourish my daughter and wean her in a way that is not stressful on either of us. I know that I will probably get many questions of disbelief and looks of "what in the heck is she doing?". But I'm doing what is best for my child, nuff said.

It's getting closer!

Little Lady's birthday is getting closer! The loot, meaning the decorations, arrived yesterday. And they are spectacular. I love them, especially the personalized door cover we ordered for the front door. I also picked up her pictures from her one year photo shoot today and they turned out fantastic as well. I can't believe how it's all coming together. We were going to get her a tree swing for her birthday present but as of today I am rethinking that since I heard on the radio that Yo Gabba Gabba is coming to town and the tickets are going on sale, someone just might be getting that for her birthday present!

Memorial Day Weekend

I hope that everyone had a fantastic Memorial Day weekend. We didn't get to do a whole lot. Even though Big A had a four day weekend, I ended up working at the outdoor store three of those four days!

But Big A did get to go fishing in the kayak...
And I got my flower pots planted for the summer...
And Little Lady of course had fun outdoors keeping her Mommy and Daddy company...
